Carrington had her 18 month check up on April 30th with Dr. Lods. It went exactly as expected- she is definitely at the low end of normal when it comes to her verbal skills. This is apparently exactly what they expect for "second children". Dr. Lods even joked that "fourth children" are basically mute until Kindergarten! This visit was surprisingly relaxing for me, since I had the luxury of leaving Trey at home (Doug came home early, so I didn't have to brave the doctor's office with both kids- I'm not kidding, Trey becomes a MANIAC in the doctor's office!!!). Other than her verbal skills of 5 words (and that's stretching it), she is amazing, perfect, wonderful, and everything else spectacular. :)
Her stat's for the day:
Weight: 21 pounds 14 ounces (16th percentile)
Height: 31" (32nd percentile)
Head Circumference: 46.6 (48th percentile)
So, she's not the biggest chick on the block, but that's ok!
Trey's stats at 18 months were shocking, compared to their usual gap:
Weight: 22.06 pounds (9th percentile)
Height: 32 inches (14th percentile)
Head Circumference: 26.5 (17th percentile)
Trey had a WAY smaller head than Carrington, that's for sure! This is also when he started really slowing down on the weight gain and slimming out! I have a feeling their stats won't be too far apart going forward!
Carrington really is a sweetheart. She has the funniest personality, and loves to have a good time! This afternoon, when she got up from her nap, I was putting away laundry, and she was playing with some of my jewelry and old shoes. That chick cracks me up! Nothing was more fun to her than sporting fancy bracelets and parading around in high heels! She is definitely a girl after my own heart!

Spending lots of time with Allie!

We've spent lots of time with Allie over the last few weeks, and I had a bunch of super cute pictures that I had to load! We had tons of fun at Allie's 2nd birthday party (cupcakes were a hit with Carrington, and Trey loved to "pin the nose on Elmo"), and we were extra excited to playdate with Allie and visit the park.
Carrington's 4 words- 18 months old
Carrington is a gabby little girl, but she has almost no words. I thought Trey was a late talker, but Carrington is definitely taking her sweet time saying anything that makes sense. I guess we must be doing everything she wants, since she doesn't seem to be in a hurry to tell us anything specific! :)
So far, she has 4 words: Dada, Mama, Juice, and Shoes
I suppose those are the most important!

Trey's First Trip to the Dentist!!! 3 Years Old

Trey had his first visit with the dentist last week. He was such a brave boy and opened up his mouth extra wide so they could count, clean, and put on special vitamins. Because he was so great, he got to pick out a prize from the prize box- I thought FOR SURE he would pick the little GI Joes, but instead he chose a pretty green beaded necklace for "Baby Sweetheart" (Carrington), and when I told him how proud I was of him, he said he "already had a new Diego toothbrush as a prize". How sweet?!?! He had NO CAVITIES, and as a reward, we spent the day at Dan Nicholas Park on Saturday, where Trey got to fish, feed the ducks, and play on all the super cool playgrounds!
In 6 months we will go back to the dentist, and I was extra brave and made appointments for BOTH kids in October!!! :) I must have been feeling like Super Mom that afternoon!
Easter Fun 2012

Easter seems like months ago, and it's even hard for me to remember exactly what we did, but I know the reality is that is was only 2 weeks ago, and I should seriously be able remember. :)
Things I definitely remember: I was running a little bit behind for this entire holiday! The neighborhood hosted their annual Easter Egg Hunt, and we had decided to take Trey (since it was during Carrington's nap). That seems like it would be simple, but Doug ended up running late, and I was frantically texting Sarah (the host) asking her to please wait for Doug and Trey to get there, otherwise Trey would get no eggs! They BARELY made it on time, for Trey to have a blast grabbing as many eggs as he could find, but that was it. Trey wanted NOTHING to do with any of the other activities- no visiting the bunny, no face painting, so exactly 19 minutes later, Doug and Trey walked back through our front door. Talk about a bust!
Easter Eve, Doug and I stayed up late filling a ton of little plastic Easter eggs with candy, and then Doug took on the job of preparing the egg hunt. He hid those eggs EVERYWHERE!!! In the morning, we opened Easter baskets upstairs, and then let the kiddos loose on the first floor to search for all the eggs. They were so cute, and they both loved everything about it. I am going to take a quick moment to share what I put in their baskets. Trey's basket: Moon Dough, a flashlight, coloring books, activity books, stickers, and a Max and Ruby bowl. Carrington's basket: toy microphone, a harmonica, sunglasses, a coloring pack, and an activity book. I'm sharing these details because I want you to know that I always thought Easter baskets were for small items and candy- to be honest, I REALLY hesitated on even getting the sunglasses for Carrington and the flashlight for Trey (both were about $7.00). I was shocked to hear that many of our friends were giving huge (or at least what I consider to be huge) gifts on Easter. I'm not kidding- ride on Jeeps, new beds, dollhouses... what in the world? Since when did Easter equate to a birthday or Christmas???
Our other Easter traditions include church and Jesus :), the Douglas family (and the Guinness family too!), and we always go to Easter Brunch at Red Rocks. It was delicious, as always, and we had a wonderful time.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing (we had FAMILY nap time- woohoo!!!!), playing outside, and planting new flowers. It was fantastic!

Visiting some of our FAVORITE cousins!!!

Ok, I was doing awesome with the blog for about 2 weeks, and now it's been almost a month since I've written a thing! When I grow up, I am definitely going to be more consistent!
A few weeks ago, we finally got to spend some time with Evan and Drew- every time we have attempted this in the past, someone got horribly sick (the downside of playdating through Winter), so I hadn't gotten to spend any real time with Drew since he was a little guy (or at least as little as Big Man Drew can possibly be!). The kids had a great time playing (and mostly sharing). The only "hiccup" of the morning was as I was backing out of Becky's driveway to take the kiddos to lunch, I backed just a hair too far, and backed into her neighbor's mailbox... Yes, it was so sad :(. What a huge hassle!!! I hurriedly scribbled a note to the owner, asking them to call, and then spent the next week and half searching for the exact mailbox repair or replacement. Although this was not my first choice, the great thing was that when it was all said and done, and I had the mailbox completely fixed through a FANTASTIC company (thank GOD I have friends that work at Centex and Pulte that helped me track down the original installer)- the owner of the mailbox sent me such a sweet email telling me that my actions through the entire process were such a great example of character. Since I had an awful week, this email was just one of many sweet things that my friends (and strangers for that matter) did to make me feel better- and not because they knew what a terrible week I was having- it was just God's way of letting me know other people care! :)
Back to the playdate- the kids had a fabulous time, we got some adorable pictures, ate lunch and Qdoba, and ran around the fountains (which were not on, but still a blast to look at). We sure do love Cousin Becky, Evan, and Drew!!!

What can Carrington "do"???
Carrington now knows some of her body parts, and I didn't remember when I first took a video of Trey "doing" stuff, so of course, I went back through the blog and realized that I took a video of Trey pointing out his body parts when he was 16 1/2 months. Carrington is 17 months old, so we are a few weeks behind, but here is what she knows for sure: her head, her feet, her hands, and her belly. She can clap, waive bye-bye, and wink like a pro, and several other things that I will not brag about, since she refuses to do them on command. I was lucky I got this much! Enjoy!
Dan Nicholas Park

We spent the weekend with Uncle Brian and Aunt Kristyn, and Doug declared he was going to plan the entertainment! I wasn't worried at all, Doug is a great planner! We woke up early (Doug instructed us to be ready to walk out the door by 9am) and headed out to Dan Nicholas Park for the day. The weather started off rainy and overcast, but actually turned out to be beautiful by mid-morning.
Dan Nicholas Park is awesome- it has small zoo animals, a carousel, train rides, a splash pad, tons of playgrounds, a petting farm, a fishing pond,... the list goes on and on! Some highlights of the day included Carrington LOVING the farm animals, and they loved her right back. The miniature donkey was so enamored with Carrington that he decided to bite into her little shirt, and that's when I had to step in! Carrington was a little freaked out, but she bounced back quickly. For Trey's birthday, Uncle Brian, Aunt Melissa, and Rylee got Trey his very first fishing rod. He was so excited to get to use it! The best part was the end of the day when Trey got to help Doug reel in a catfish!!! Carrington adored the Carousel (it was her first time on one), and Trey had the best time feeding the ducks.
Doug announced that Dan NIcholas Park was his new "go-to" place, and if it were up to him, we would spend every weekend there! Ha!!! :)

Trey's 3 Year BirthDAY!!!!

After an entire weekend of celebrating, followed by homemade cake pops for school on Monday, Trey's actual birthday finally arrived on Tuesday! Yay!!!! Since Mommy and Daddy both had to work, I made extra cake balls for Trey to have at Jean's house. All the kids sang happy birthday and ate cake when the kids got off the school bus. I even let Trey take his new scooter to Jean's, since he was so excited.
That evening, we went to McDonald's and got Trey nuggets and sweet tea (his favorite), picked up subs from Harris Teeter, and headed to Dorton Park for a picnic. It was beautiful outside, and the kids had so much fun! We even opened presents there- Trey got a brand new watch (he has been asking for a clock on his arm, just like Dada), and his very own set of real Legos (the small kind). He was so excited, and that made it extra fun to celebrate. We ended our time at the park by singing Happy Birthday and eating chocolate cake. It started raining right as we were leaving, so the timing was perfect. A great way to celebrate his birthday!
As soon as we got home, Trey and I spread out all of his new legos and we made a house, a cow, and a tractor. It took me FOREVER (I forgot how detailed Legos can be), but it was so much fun to see his excitement. That night, he wore his new watch to bed, and slept with his Lego tractor.
Today was Trey's 3 year well check, and he did awesome. He knew all of his numbers, had his first blood pressure check (and he didn't even cry when the machine squeezed his arm), and he passed his eye test when he knew all of his shapes (they tested with circles, squares, hearts, and houses)! Another proud Mommy moment :). Here are the stats:
Weight: 30 pounds exactly- 31st percentile
Height: 37"- 34th percentile
His ears didn't look good, but we already knew that, and his surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. Hopefully the "third set of tubes is a charm"...

Discovery Place Kids!!! A 3 Year Old's Dream!!!

On Saturday, Trey had his big 3 year old birthday party at Discovery Place Kids! There are a thousand things to do there, and the best part about Discovery Place is that they provide everything- I am not kidding. They do the cupcakes, the goody bags, the games, the decorations,... I didn't have to do anything! I did have one job, which was to bring a number 3 candle, and for some reason, I couldn't even manage to do that smoothly, so we were racing to Food Lion just a few minutes before the party, since I am a complete slacker and forgot to pick one up earlier in the week! I also brought some Vanilla cupcakes, since we chose chocolate for DPK to provide at the party. Trey had a blast celebrating with all his friends! :)
