Pretending I don't hear "Da-Da" coming from Carrington's mouth! :)

This past weekend was gorgeous, and we spent most of it outside! I got some beautiful pictures, which always makes me happy, and everyone was in a great mood all weekend long. One night before bed, everyone was being so sweet that I couldn't help but snap a few pictures :).

Carrington is now using the syllable "Da-Da". This is not a word, although EVERY time Doug hears her say that, he immediately turns to me and asks if I heard it... the answer is NO. I didn't hear anything close to "Da-Da"- at least not that I would ever admit to him! Secretly I know this will probably be her first word :).

Up until Tuesday night, Trey had been doing awesome in his big boy bed. Then 1:30am on Wed. morning (Tuesday night)we hear knocking at Trey's door. Of course, we ignore this sound and Trey starts saying "Knock-Knock" while knocking- as if that may somehow encourage us to go get him. About 2 minutes of this turns into screaming, wailing, and kicking the door. Ok, we get it- I get out of bed and put Trey back into his bed where he stares up at me with big eyes that don't look tired at all. I tell him to stay in his bed and then leave the room. He loses it! Screaming, crying, yelling,... we go through this for about 30 minutes until Doug finally gives in and he and Trey go and sleep together in the guest bedroom. Yes- this is exactly why I didn't want to move him out of the crib. If this had taken place in "crib days", Trey would have woken up, possibly cried, and then laid back down and put himself back to sleep. But, I am not one to say "I told you so". Luckily, we did not have a repeat of this performance again last night, so I'm hoping it was a fluke.

This morning, I was getting ready for work in the bathroom, and Trey was sitting in my bed reading his books. He started calling "Mommy, Mommy!". I went to check on him, and he patted the space next to him and said "Mommy, sit. Read books!" Who could resist? I didn't care if I was going to be late for work, that is one invitation I wasn't about to refuse! :)

This week was Trey and Carrington's last day of school, at least until mid-June, so that was sad, but we are looking forward to seeing all of our teachers and friends again in a few weeks! Monday was also our last day of Beginner's art class. This has been a blast and Trey has loved every minute of it! It is completely hands on, and he gets to color, paint, and draw to his little heart's content. Carrington has had a great time too, since all of the other kids are in love with babies and like to touch her. That chick LOVES the attention! We will be taking the Intermediate class in a few weeks, so we are really looking forward to more art!

I took a hilarious video of Trey last night pointing to pictures of him and Rylee. He knows that we are going to visit her this weekend for her birthday and see horses, so every time he points to her picture he says "Wywee Horsey?" "Birthday Wywee?". It is too big to load on blogger, but it is really funny!

A Beautiful Day!

Today Carrington is 29 weeks old. She is so beautiful and smart, she loves other kids and lights up the moment Trey walks by. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family and I am trying to not take any of that for granted!

This was a perfect Friday! The weather was beautiful, the kids took simultaneous naps (well, sort of- there was definitely napping overlap, and that's good enough for me!). We spent the majority of our day outside, starting off with some serious swinging on the playset at 9am this morning! I took Trey and Carrington to lunch at McDonalds, and then it was nap time followed by more outside fun! I've said it a thousand times, but we have some of the best neighbors! Wesley and Savannah came over to play with Trey and Carrington this afternoon, and I couldn't help but snap some pictures- they were all so adorable!

We are looking forward to a busy but fun weekend!

My Bright Light!

Trey is quickly becoming a big boy right before my eyes. It is amazing to watch him learn and take on new things, and although I am so proud of him in everything that he does, I desperately want to make time stand still- at least for a brief moment. He has started calling me "Mommy" instead of "Mama", and even this small change is emotional for me!

He is in a toddler bed now, and although Night 1 was a complete and total disaster, every night since then has been perfect. Sometimes I don't give him enough credit to be able to adapt so easily. This afternoon, I knew Trey and Carrington were both tired, so all 3 of us went into Trey's room, and he climbed into bed, while I sat down on the floor next to his pillow. I started humming a song and rocking Carrington in my arms. About 5 minutes later they were both asleep, and I was in such awe at how perfect these small little moments can be.

This evening, Trey- once again- melted my heart and gave me the bright spot in my day. My sweet baby "big" boy is going to make a great Daddy one day- he takes the daddy responsibility very seriously! He put the baby doll in a diaper (which you can't see), put her in the highchair, got her toys, and then fed her- all without my help or encouragement. He kept saying "Dada-Sister-Trey-Baby". This precious routine almost made me cry!

I've been blogging far more than usual these last few days, but I want to document these memories the very best that I possibly can! Enjoy!

You KNOW it's almost summer when...

We get out our swimsuits and spend the afternoon playing in the sprinkler!!!! Our neighbor, Wesley, came over and he and Trey spent some time playing with the water and making home-made water slides! Love it!!!

Ever since then, Trey has been begging for more "Wa-wer" :).

Some Carrington Videos :)

Now that Carrington is a little more active, I had to take a video of her jumping, since Trey loved his jumper so much! We also have one of Trey showing her attention- which she loves!

Carrington Sitting and Sippy Cups!

Ok- last post of the night! This is my effort to get all caught up as of TODAY! :) This past week, Carrington finally got the hang of sitting all by herself- she's been close for a long time, and could do it for a few moments, but she finally figured out her balance. She also tried a sippy cup for the first time. Of course, she has no clue what to do with it, but Dr. Lods said to start, so why not?

That's all that's happening in our world right now! I would say life is pretty close to perfect :).

My Little Picasso and a Big Boy Bed!

Trey has been super active lately! I am working 2 full days a week now, so we have a new nanny, Amanda, and she is wonderful. We like her a ton, and we hope that she is here to stay! :)

Trey has also started My Little Picasso art classes on Monday mornings, and we have so much fun with all of our friends. We were so surprised to find out that we already knew 4 of the other kids in the class! Trey has a blast every week, and it is fun to watch him be creative. This week was finger painting, and it was hilarious! Too bad I didn't bring my camera, since the pictures would have been priceless.

Doug has been eager to switch Trey over to a big boy bed (actually just a toddler bed), despite my reservations. We did go ahead and do it, since he can now get out of his crib, but the first night was pretty much a disaster and Doug let Trey sleep in our bed at 2:30 in the morning. Exactly what I didn't want! Luckily, the next night went much better and Trey slept all night long until 8am the next morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll keep up the good work, but to be honest with you, I'm a little nervous.

The other new part of our household is a big boy potty! I'm not fully ready to start potty training, but we bought the potty, the pull ups and the potty books. Trey is showing all the "signs" of being ready, but I'm not ready to move forward quite yet. Trey is CONSTANTLY taking off his clothes and has now started to do it in public, especially if he has a dirty diaper. I caught him the other night staring at our neighbors (who were having dinner out on their back patio) and Trey had stripped down to nothing and was just standing there staring. How embarrassing! They are so lucky to have us as neighbors!

Carrington's 6 Month Doctor's Visit!

Carrington had a perfect visit to the doctor for her 6 month checkup. I couldn't believe it- she didn't even cry during her shots!

Here are her stats:

Weight: 14.13 pounds (28th percentile)
Height: 24.5 inches (12th percentile)
Head: 42.0 (67th percentile)

And Trey at his 6 month visit was:

Weight: 17 pounds, 9 ounces
Height: 27 1/2"
Head Circumference: 43 cm

Dr. Lods said that she isn't the "tallest baby on the block". My guess is that he's probably right! :) After comparing Carrington to Trey, it is obvious all over again how different they really are!

Patterson Farms and Easter Traditions

I'm so behind on blogging the adventures of Trey and Carrington! We've done so many fun things lately!

We were lucky enough to be a part of Sammi's 2nd birthday at Patterson Farms, and it was a blast! Trey had so much fun with all the animals, and easter egg hunting, but who would have ever guessed that Carrington would have the MOST fun of all! She loved petting the bunny and giggled the entire time. I have always enjoyed Patterson Farms, and now I love it even more!

We had a quick and dramatic visit to see the Easter Bunny at Northlake. Trey and I had talked about him all morning. We arrived early, so Trey could spend some time waving and adjusting to a big stuffed bunny. But, of course, when it was time to actually SIT with the bunny, Carrington had the time of her life and Trey freaked. Needless to say, I joined the picture, although that was certainly not my intention!

Easter morning we opened Easter baskets filled with stickers and special Easter books from Mommy and Daddy. Hallmark makes a killing on me every year- I get completely sucked in by all their cuteness and buy everything! Later that morning, we joined the Douglas Family for our annual Easter morning brunch at Red Rocks. Melissa and I were discussing how different a year can be- last year, it was just us with our boys, and this year, we are both a family of 4, with baby girls and Big Brothers!
